Ron’s Comments on OwenZen Website
I received a number of more or less insightful observations about the Owenzen.com website from Ron Hinckley that I thought I would share.
a. Is that you peeing in the ocean in the Bonnie and Clyde photo of your parents in the Rich Experiences section? – Answer: No! I think I am the blond kid on the left.
b. OwenZen could be, ‘Oh, When Zen!’ in response to people like mass shooters who are void of Zen and have no thought of or desire to attain a Zen state. They don’t need justification for their actions and the ‘obvious lack of accountability in the world absolves them from their sins.’
c. Re the Healthy Living section Ron says there should be a (counter intuitive) food reward for not eating. He says he used to have a trainer who fired him and moved 1500 miles away. His father-in-laws diet was ‘if it tastes good spit it out!’
d. Before he heard it on the website, Ron had, ‘asked Cathy (his wife) to have Danny Boy played/sung at his funeral’. Old Man River has been a favorite since I was a kid.’ There is no indication he has removed it from his funeral playlist.
e. He has a corollary to my Wisdom section aging comment: “When someone gets older and retires, it doesn’t mean they stop thinking about things, expressing opinions, or participating in life” - Brian E. Owen----Ron adds, ‘They just don't know what the hell they are talking about or remember having said it’.
f. I don’t see North Carolina (where we live) on your bucket list! Answer: It is now!
g. We have place mats exactly like this starry night.
h. Ron says, ‘My everyday rich experience list kind of mirrors yours: smelling (I don't any more), waking up, living, someone who actually appreciates my singing, tasty food--doesn't even have to be well prepared, deep fried is fine, any kind of treat anytime, a steady heart beat, but if not, any kind of heart beat, getting taller--I look at weight/height chart, find my weight then eat until I reach my height goal, and writing without my hand shaking.’
i. He says, ‘Now you have to keep it up’.
